Boinnnnnggggg!

Tempus is pretty damn Fugit

Spring Forward this weekend, friends and neighbors! This is how it's gonna shake down:

Sunday morning

1:59:57 AM
1:59:58
1:59:59
3:00:00

Boom! It's like magic.  They made an hour disappear, never to be recovered...until this coming Autumn, when it will be found in the glove compartment of a 1996 Nissan Altima owned by 17-year-old pizza delivery kid in St. Charles, MO, hidden by a box of rubbers and a Glock 9mm.

OK, I kinda got off track there.  Sorry.  As penance, this weekend will be trivia-free, cat-free, and maybe - just maybe - there'll be some poker content, finally.

Namaste, mah brothahs and sistahs. Oh, and one final piece of advice, especially if you're a salaried employee: come in to work an hour late Monday and blame the time change. Stick it to the man!

  1. I hate losing the hour of time. I hate it. OTOH, I love the result, the longer days. I used to say I would two hours of time because it would take me an hour to reset all the clocks, but these days most of my zillion clocks reset themselves, so it's not so bad.

    1. Got to agree with you. That extra hour of daylight at the end of the day for six months is IMO well worth one bleary-eyed Monday.

  2. The good news is the clock in my Car is going to be correct again (but only temporarily)

    2. No, "inside" clocks are forced to be chanced with the spring/fall crap - things outside of the house people have no control over.

Really messes people up who ride in my car though trying to figure out what the time might actually be.
I'm thinking of just using a random time - say 2.5 hour difference, just so that it's always wrong and it's like entering the Twilight Zone coming into my car (especially drunk).

    3. A brilliant, devious idea. I think I'll do that too. Except, wait, my car is such a shitpile that I'm the only one in it. Nevermind.

  3. Well, at least it's easier to move forward digital clocks than to set them back an hour (which is really moving them forward 23 hours).

Perhaps it's due to my advanced age, but I find it takes me about a week to adjust to the time change. And that's even without having to get up early for a job.

    1. You know, of all the things in life I have a problem with - and they are legion - I've never had a problem with the time change. Interesting...or perhaps better said, not interesting at all.

  4. Between cars, microwaves, watches, wall clocks, ... gawd, there seem to be so many clocks to change.

    1. Quite so - and now I'll be humming a Chicago tune all the way to Foxwoods. Thanks a pantload, Lightning.

  5. Making the day longer by adding an hour with Daylight Saving Time is like making your blanket longer by cutting an inch off the bottom and adding it to the top.
